Men's Wrestling Places Sixth at NAIA Championships

The Doane Men's Wrestling season came to a close on Saturday at the NAIA National Championships. The Tigers finished with 54.0 team points in the tournament and placed 6th out of 58 teams in the championship.

Baagii Boldmaa and Bradley Antesberger walked away with third place finishes. For Boldmaa, he and his supporters faced the gauntlet of emotions in the semifinals. His opponent, 5-seed Shea Ruffridge of Grand View, continuously backed away anytime Boldmaa tried to engage and it wasn't until 30 seconds left that a stalling warning was called. Boldmaa was able to snag a takedown with six seconds left to take a 5-4 lead but the two would go out-of-bounds. Following a failed Grand View challenge, the restart saw Ruffridge spin in Boldmaa's grip and fall on top of the Tiger wrestler for a reversal and the upset.

The loss snapped Boldmaa's win-streak at 100 but he would close out his career with two more wins to take third. He defeated 7-seed Cade Manion of Oklahoma City by pin in 4:20 and 6-seed Patrick Gould of Keiser by decision, 8-5.

Antesberger came back through the consolation bracket with three wins on Saturday. Two of his wins were by sudden victory, topping 9-seed Tucker Tomlinson of Ottawa, 3-1, and 4-seed Malachi Karibo of Baker, 3-1, in the final match. In between, he received a medical forfeit win over 7-seed Jack Servies of Marian.

Nate Lendt finished sixth as he went 1-2 on the final day. He defeated 13-seed Trent Johnson of Lindsay Wilson by decision, 3-2. He dropped his next match to 2-seed Blake Gonzalez of Grand View, by pin at 6:13. In the 5th Place match, he was edged out by 5-seed Keegan Luton of Oklahoma City.

Chinges Tsermaa placed eighth as he went 0-2 on the day. He dropped his first match to 10-seed Douglas Peppers of Southeastern in the overtime tie-breaker, 7-1. In his final match, he lost to 5-seed Stephen Kelle of Southeastern, 8-2.

All four received NAIA All-American honors for the Tigers. Boldmaa finishes his career as a four-time All-American, Antesberger earned his second All-American honors, Tsermaa earned his first and is just the second Tiger to earn All-American honors at 174, and Lendt is the first Tiger to earn All-American honors at 149 as he picked up his first honor.
