Men's Wrestling Top Marian at NWCA National Duals

Men's Wrestling picked up their first win of the 2024 NWCA National Duals on Friday with a 35-12 win over Marian (Ind.). The Tigers advanced in the consolation bracket with the win as they improved to 2-0 all-time against the Knights.

Action started with Russell Nickerson posting a pin in 33 seconds at 125 for the Tigers. Marian took the next two matches and led 8-6. Nate Lendt put Doane back in front with a tech fall win at 149, 19-3. Benjamin Miller won at 157 by major decision, 13-2, and Benjamin Dobler won at 165 by pin in 3:54. Marian won at 174 by major decision, leaving the Tigers in front 21-12.

Tyson Beauperthuy picked up a win by pin at 184 in 2:13. Kasten Grape followed with a pin at 197 in 3:34. Eli Criblez won the heavyweight match by decision, 5-2. The Tigers had one point deducted off their team score resulting in 35 team points.

Doane will take on No. 6 Campbellsville in a 4 PM match-up to close out their action on Friday.
