Men's Wrestling Rolls Past Ottawa
Men's Wrestling dismantled No. 10 Ottawa on Saturday at the NWCA National Duals, winning 43-8. The Tigers won the first four matches and eight of the 10 to improve to 2-0 all-time versus the Braves.
Nathan Rizek won by pin in 1:35 at 125 to kick off the match. NAIA No. 14 Devin Avedissian was next for Doane and took on No. 23 Braden Ledford. Avedissian posted a major decision, 12-2. Tristen Brown won by pin in 1:17 at 141 and Nate Lendt won with a pin in 34 seconds at 149 to give the Tigers a 22-0 lead.
Ottawa got on the scoreboard with wins in two of the next three matches. Doane's win in the middle portion of the lineup came as Ben Miller wrestled up a weight class to compete at 165. Ranked No. 12 at 157, Miller posted a major decision victory of 16-7.
Doane won the final three matches. Tyson Beauperthuy picked up a 20-4 tech fall victory. Kasten Grape won by forfeit while Eli Criblez won by pin in 2:11. Ottawa had a point deduction for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Doane advances to the 9th Place match at 3 PM and will face Providence (Mont.).
