Men's Wrestling Drops Final Match at National Duals
Men's Wrestling closed out the NWCA National Duals on Saturday afternoon against No. 8 Providence (Mont.). The Argos won 24-15 in the first meeting between the two programs.
The two programs went back and forth, splitting the opening four matches. However, Providence held an 8-6 lead as they earned bonus points with their two wins coming via major decision. Devin Avedissian won at 133 with an 8-1 decision. Nate Lendt defeated No. 22 Jalen Vladic by a 6-3 decision.
The Argos won the next three matches (157, 165, 174) and took a 21-6 lead. The Tiger snapped the momentum that Providence held as Tyson Beauperthuy defeated No. 20 Alan Badley at 184 by decision, 5-4. Kasten Grape followed with a pin over Caleb Werner in 4:12 to pull Doane with six points, 21-15.
In the final match, Doane's No. 25 Eli Criblez took on No. 2 KC Buday. Neither competitor was able to record a takedown with Buday recording the only point on an escape in the second period for a 1-0 win to clinch the victory for the Argos.
Next up for the Tigers is their only home dual of the season as they take on Concordia. Doane will host the Bulldogs on Friday, January 12, at 7 PM.
