Men's Wrestling Blanks Hastings in GPAC Dual
Men's Wrestling traveled to Hastings on Tuesday evening to take on the Broncos in a GPAC dual. The Tigers won all 10 matches to post a shutout, 55-0, to improve to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in GPAC action.
Hunter Bennett won the opening match at 125, defeating Justin Rodriguez by decision, 7-1. Russell Nickerson recorded a pin early in the second period at 133 to start a run of four straight pins for the Tigers. He pinned Creel Weber in 3:34. Tristen Brown pinned Sebastian Macedo in 37 seconds to win at 141.
NAIA No. 3 Nate Lendt defeated Jack Morton by pin in 4:12 at 149. Benjamin Miller, ranked No. 14 at 157, won by pin in 5:47 over Jake Patterson. Cooper Spaulding was close to extending the pin-streak but still put forth a dominant performance over Braydon Forehand, winning by tech fall, 16-1.
Cael Jordan, ranked No. 19 at 174, pinned Naim Abualijubain in 4:07. Tyson Beauperthuy, ranked No. 4 at 184, pinned Trevor Leon in 2:09. Kasten Grape, ranked No. 7 at 197, posted a tech fall victory over Dallas Paxton, 24-5. Eli Criblez closed out the match for the Tigers with a pin in 3:22 over Matheson Rodriguez.
Next up for members of the Tigers' squad will be the Missouri Valley Invite on Friday and Saturday, January 19-20, in Marshall, Missouri.
