Rizek Receives GPAC Wrestler of the Week Honor

Nathan Rizek has been named the final GPAC Wrestler of the Week after his performance at the GPAC Championships on February 17 in Seward.

Rizek went 4-0 at the meet and won the 125 bracket to secure a bid to the NAIA National Championships in Wichita, Kansas, on February 29-March 2. He pinned all four opponents on the weekend, opening with a win over Concordia's Bryson Bussinger in 1:21. In the quarterfinals he defeated Jordan O'Connor of Hastings in 2:08. Rizek set a school record for fastest pin at 125 in the semifinals as he topped Briar Cliff's Dante Rigal in 24 seconds. In the finals, he defeated Gabe Grice of Morningside in 2:59.

On the season, Rizek is 8-1 at 125 and 15-7 overall. He is one of 10 Doane wrestlers who will compete at the NAIA Championships.
