Men's Wrestling Records First-Ever Shutout at National Duals Tournament

Men's Wrestling opened action at the NWCA NAIA National Duals on Friday afternoon by taking on No. 13 Corban (Ore.). The Tigers went 10-0 on the mat and posted a 38-0 victory over the Warriors. It is the first time Doane has shutout an opponent at the national duals tournament.

Hunter Bennett opened action at 125 and posted a 13-4 major decision over Brayden Boyd. At 133, Matthew Terrence won by major decision, 20-6. Devin Avedissian followed with a 9-7 decision over Bo Davis at 141. Nate Lendt defeated NAIA No. 25 Jr Downing  by decision, 9-2.

Ben Miller posted the first upset of the day for the Tigers as he won at 157 over NAIA No. 3 David Rubio by decision, 6-4. Cooper Spaulding pinned Armando Nicacio at 165 in 5:48. Benjamin Dobler followed with a major decision over German Munoz at 174, 18-7.

The last three matches paired Top 25 opponents. Tyson Beauperthuy defeated No. 11 Isaiah Twait by tech fall, 20-4, at 184. Kasten Grape won by decision over No. 14 Hunter James, 7-1. Eli Criblez capped the match with an upset win over No. 10 Antonio Garcia with a 10-8 decision.

Doane will take on No. 7 Campbellsville (Ky.), the 3-seed for the tournament. The match is set for 4 PM on Friday.
