Men's Wrestling Cruises Past Hastings
Men's Wrestling hosted Hastings on Friday evening in Crete for a GPAC dual. The Tigers pounced quickly on their way to a 50-6 victory. The win marked the third straight year that Doane posted 50 or more points in their dual with the Broncos.
Action at 125 saw Brian Peck pin Creel Weber in 2:35. NAIA No. 15 Matthew Terrence picked up an 18-1 tech fall victory at 133 over Justin Rodriguez. Devin Avedissian, ranked No. 15 at 141, won by tech fall over Dalton Michael, 15-0.
In the 149 match, No. 2 Nate Lendt defeated Jordan Tobias by tech fall, 18-3. Ben Miller, ranked No. 9 at 157, posted a win by pin in 2:49. Edward Ramirez returned to the mat after more than a month away and showcased his No. 20 ranking with a 21-5 tech fall win over Israel Manriquez.
Benjamin Dobler, ranked No. 17, picked up a pin in 1:56 over Esteban Sedano to win the 174 match. Tyson Beauperthuy, ranked No. 4 at 184, had the quickest pin of the night as he defeated Conall Liburdi in 1:38. Kasten Grape, ranked No. 9 at 197, pinned Matheson Rodriguez in 2:12. Hastings picked up the win at heavyweight with a pin.
The Tigers will return to action on January 24 when a number of wrestlers compete at the Missouri Valley Invite.
