Men's Wrestling Wins Home Finale Over William Penn

Men's Wrestling took on (RV) William Penn in Crete on Friday evening. The Tigers won nine of the 10 matches on their way to a 47-5 victory.

The match started off with Hunter Bennett, ranked No. 13 at 125, receiving a forfeit win. A Top 25 battle at 133 went back-and-forth. No. 10 Matthew Terrence scored first with a takedown before No. 24 Lane Scorpil reversed the action and earned six near-fall points before the end of the opening period to lead 8-3. Terrence picked up a reversal and four near-fall points in the second period to take a 9-8 lead. In the third period, Scorpil recorded a takedown to regain the lead, 11-9, only to have Terrence reverse the advantage and tie the match. Terrence rolled up enough riding time to receive the decisive point in a 12-11 victory.

The Tigers rolled the next three matches. At 141, No. 16 Devin Avedissian posted an 18-3 tech fall win over Carson Jensen. Nate Lendt, ranked No. 2 at 149, won by tech fall, 19-4, over Hector Diaz. Ben Miller, ranked No. 10, won by pin in 1:47 at 157. William Penn's lone win came at 165 as No. 12 Cameron Hargrove was able to top Kody Hahn, 20-4.

Benjamin Dobler, ranked No. 19 at 174, won by tech fall, 21-6, over Ryan Van Donselaar. Tyson Beauperthuy, No. 4 at 184, won by tech fall over No. 25 Branson Bottorff, 19-4. At 197, No. 2 Bradley Antesberger won by forfeit. In the 285 match, Kasten Grape, ranked No. 6 at 197, wrestled up and pinned Jesse Schwery in 1:50.

Next up for the Tigers will be the second GPAC Duals. Taking place in Mitchell, S.D., the Tigers will take on Waldorf, Dakota Wesleyan, and Morningside.
