Men's Wrestling Clinches Share of GPAC Title by Topping DWU
Men's Wrestling clinched at least a share of the 2024-25 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Duals title with a 36-13 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The win moved the team to 7-0 in GPAC action with one match remaining.
Brian Peck opened action with a tech fall victory at 125 over Tukker Boe, 17-1. Matthew Terrence earned a pin at 133 over Will Farren in 1:11. The lone Top 25 match-up in the dual came at 141 as No. 16 Devin Avedissian faced No. 19 Zach Zitek. Avedissian picked up an 11-4 decision.
Nate Lendt kept the wins coming in with a 19-4 tech fall victory over Zach Kolbe. Ben Miller won by forfeit at 157 to give Doane a 25-0 lead. DWU picked up wins at 165 and 174, earning bonus points in both matches to cut into the Doane lead, 25-10.
A forfeit at 184 put Doane back on the winning track as Kolton Kammeyer received the win. Kasten Grape followed with a 23-6 tech fall victory over Colten Hink. The final match at 285 was won by Dakota Wesleyan, 3-2, as Cole Hennings edged Angelo Franco.
Doane will face Morningside in the final dual of the day as the Tigers look to win the GPAC crown outright at 3:30 PM.
