Beauperthuy Represents Team USA at Pan-Am Championships

Tyson Beauperthuy traveled to Queretaro, Mexico, to compete at the Pan-Am Championships for Team USA. He competed in the U23 Greco-Roman Championships and the Senior Beach Wrestling Championships.

On April 10, he started the day by carrying out the United States flag for the Opening Ceremonies. Later that day, he competed in greco-roman wrestling at 87kg. He lost his opening match to Brian Ruiz Marin of Venezuela, who would go on to win the tournament. Wrestlers qualifying for the Third Place match were determined by who made the finals. With Ruiz Marin in the championship match, Beauperthuy received an opportunity to wrestle for a medal. He would take on Cristian Pelegrino Estalella of Cuba, but would drop the match.

In Beach Wrestling on April 13, Beauperthuy competed in the 90kg division. He opened with a 3-0 win over Miguel Lavielle Ramirez of Mexico to start pool play. In his next match, he defeated Cesar Ubico Estrada of Guatemala, 3-0. Beauperthuy won by forfeit in the final match of pool play over Kodi Marshall of Barbados.

In the semifinals, he took on Oscar Aguilar Godos of Mexico and won 3-0. In the championship, Beauperthuy was pushed out of the ring on three occasions which gave Steven Rodriguez Torreyes of Venezuela the win. Beauperthuy was not taken down by any of his opponents on the day.

In earning a silver medal, he helped lead Team USA to the team championship. Team USA finished with 60 points, five ahead of runner-up Mexico.
