Softball Drops 1-0 Pitcher's Duel

Softball battled William Penn in a pitcher's duel to close out the opening day of play at the American State Bank Tournament in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Tigers dropped a 1-0 decision to the Statesmen in a well pitched match-up.

Faith Molina threw a complete game for the Tigers, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk while striking out six in 6.0 innings of work. 

Lexi Alaniz-Diaz picked up Doane's only hit, an infield single in the third inning. Sarah Shevenell reached on an error in the second inning and was hit by a pitch in the seventh. Isabella Beauchamp reached on an error in the fifth inning to account for the team's base runners in the game.

Doane returns to action on Saturday as they take on Kansas Wesleyan at 12 PM and Culver-Stockton at 4 PM.
