Molina, Cooley Earn GPAC Weekly Honors

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced the first Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for Softball with Doane sweeping the honors. Payton Cooley received the Player of the Week honor while Faith Molina was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Cooley hit .769 on the week by going 10-of-13 with four multi-hit games. In the final game of the weekend, she had a pinch-hit three-run home run to help lift Doane over Bethel, 7-5. Cooley was also clean defensively, turning all 16 opportunities she had into outs.

Molina went 3-0 in three starts and picked up a save in one relief appearance. She threw three complete games and finished the week with 22.0 innings pitched. Molina struck out 24 batters on the week and posted a 1.91 earned run average.

The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, March 6, when they host Benedictine.
