Jaguars Top Softball in Texas Doubleheader

Softball took on Texas A&M-San Antonio on Wednesday afternoon. The Jaguars picked up two wins over the Tigers, 5-4 and 9-2.

Game One
Anna Prauner started the scoring with a two-run home run for the Tigers in the first inning. TAMSU scored four runs in the bottom of the opening inning to go in front, 4-2. The Jaguars added a run in the fourth inning to go up by three runs.

Doane battled back with two runs in the fifth inning. Grace Dowding tripled with one out and scored on a single by Jeryn Allen. With two outs, Prauner delivered an RBI-single to cut the deficit to one run. The Tigers were held off the basepaths the final two innings.

Allen and Prauner had two hits apiece for Doane. Allen scored two runs while Prauner drove in three. Doane had nine hits in the game.

Abbi Arroyo started for the Tigers in the circle and threw 2.0 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with two strikeouts. Sarah Shevenell threw 4.0 innings, allowing one run on one hit and five walks while striking out four.

Game Two
Prauner started the scoring once again, delivering a two-out RBI-single in the first inning. Lexi Alaniz-Diaz had a one-out RBI-single in the second inning to put Doane in front 2-0. 

The Jaguars scored twice in the bottom of the second to tie the game. They took the lead with four runs in the third inning. Six of their nine runs were scored with two outs in an inning.

Faith Molina threw a complete game, going 6.0 innings and allowing nine runs (six earned) on 10 hits and two walks while striking out three. 

Doane finished with nine hits in the game, two apiece from Allen and Katelyn Hays.

Next up for the Tigers will be a doubleheader on Thursday, March 14, against Houston-Victoria.
