Bethany Rallies to Down Softball in Friends Invite
Softball faced off with Bethany (Kan.) in their second game of the Friends Invite on Saturday. The Tigers jumped out early but the Swedes rallied to take the contest, 4-3.
Doane scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning on a double steal. Faith Molina stole second and Anna Prauner stole home. Marisa Marquez added a sacrifice fly to plate Molina to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead after one inning. In the third inning, Jeryn Allen had an infield single to plate Milannie Gonzalez for a 3-0 lead.
Bethany came back with one run in the bottom of the third inning and two in the fourth inning to tie the game. They scored the winning run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly.
Abbi Arroyo went 2.1 innings, allowing one run on seven hits with one strikeout. Faith McDonald threw 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk. Faith Molina threw the final 1.0 inning, allowing one run on two hits with a strikeout.
The Tigers finished with five hits, two coming from Allen. Prauner, Gonzalez, and Molina added hits as well. Allen and Gonzalez had extra base hits, both collecting a triple.
Doane returns to action on Sunday, March 2, when they take on York in their first game of the day.
