No. 9 Saints Hold Off Softball to Close Missouri Trip

Softball closed out their trip to Missouri on Saturday afternoon against No. 9 Our Lady of the Lake, the defending NAIA champions. Doane gave the Saints all they could handle before falling, 3-1.

OLLU scored a run in the second inning and a run in the fifth inning before Doane came back with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Faith Molina delivered a two-out home run moments after the Saints were able to turn a double play. OLLU picked up an insurance run in the seventh inning while Doane was able to get the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the inning.

Faith McDonald started for Doane and went 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Faith Molina picked up the final two outs, walking one and striking out one.

Doane had four hits in the game. Molina had the lone extra base hit while Grace Dowding, Milannie Gonzalez and Marisa Marquez recorded singles.

The Tigers return home on March 14 for the home and conference opener against Briar Cliff at 1 PM.
