Softball Completes Sweep of Mount Marty

Softball closed out their doubleheader in Yankton, S.D., against Mount Marty on Wednesday night under the lights. The Tigers pulled away for a 7-1 win and a sweep of the Lancers. The wins moved the Tigers to 10-10 in GPAC play and into a tie for fifth in the conference.

In the third inning, Jeryn Allen singled to drive in Faith Molina for the first run of the game. Jasmine Villegas doubled to bring Allen around to score and Anna Prauner added a sacrifice fly for the third run of the inning. In the fourth inning, Molina doubled to plate Lexi Adams.

In the sixth inning, Villegas drew a bases loaded walk to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead. Prauner followed with a sacrifice fly and Marisa Marquez picked up an RBI-single for a seven-run lead. The Lancers scored their run in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI-double.

Bri True started in the circle for Doane and threw her first complete game for the Tigers. She went 7.0 innings, allowing one run on five hits and three walks while striking out eight.

Grace Dowding went 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Molina was 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored, and one RBI. Addison Parsons went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Tigers will close out the regular season on Saturday, April 26, at Hastings. Doane's magic number for clinching a GPAC Tournament berth is one.
