CSM Tops Doane in GPAC Meeting

A slow start shooting was too much to overcome for the women's basketball team as they fell at College of Saint Mary, 94-77, on Wednesday evening. The loss dropped the Tigers to 14-13 overall and 7-12 in the GPAC, two games out of the final playoff spot with three to play.

Heather Broman (SR/Geneva, Neb.) led the Tigers with 21 points, scoring 15 in the second half. Jenna Nieveen (JR/Sterling, Neb.) added 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Hanah Barnard (JR/Beatrice, Neb.) posted 16 points and Shelbi Bittinger (SR/Milford, Neb.) scored 11 points and pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds to go with two steals.

Doane shot 43-percent for the game, hitting 10 3-point baskets and going 5-for-5 at the free throw line. CSM shot 56-percent for the game, making seven 3-point baskets and shooting 25-of-29 at the free throw line.

The Flames were led in scoring by Deaundra Young, the reigning NAIA Player of the Week, as she posted 35 points to go with 10 rebounds, four assists and five blocked shots. Pilar Aldrich added 21 points and four assists.
