Broman Named Academic All-American

The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) announced the selection of the 2015-16 basketball Academic All-American Teams for the College Division on Monday with one Doane Tiger selected to the list. Heather Broman (SR/Geneva, Neb.) was announced to the Second Team of the Women's Academic All-American Team, making her the first Doane women's basketball player to receive the honor.

Broman led the Tigers in scoring this year with 16.5 points per game and finishing her career with 1,408 points (11.9 per game, 118 games). She added 6.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game this season for the Tigers while shooting 56.7-percent from the floor, sixth-best in the NAIA. Broman's scoring average ranked 33rd in the NAIA this season.

In addition to athletic play, academics and involvement are important for the nominees. Broman, an accounting major, is a NAIA and GPAC Scholar-Athlete, a member of the Dean's List, Accounting Club President and has been named to the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society.

With the addition of Broman, Doane has added to their list of Academic All-Americans this year. Four Doane student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-American list, moving the Tigers' total to 43 since 2007.
