Women's Basketball traveled to Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday to take on Morningside. The Mustangs handed the Tigers their first loss of the year, topping Doane 74-49.
Morningside was able to do two things the Tigers' previous opponents did not, force turnovers and go on runs of points. Doane committed 29 turnovers in the game which led to 33 Mustang points. The host squad also had three runs of 7-0 or better.
Despite Morningside committing more fouls, 23-20, the Mustangs out-shot the Tigers at the charity stripe. Morningside was 18-of-20 compared to Doane's 12-of-17.
Macy Holtz led the Tigers with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting with three steals. Mak Hatcliff added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kaylee Klover dished out four assists to lead the team.
Morningside received 21 points from Lily Vollertsen and 19 points from Alexis Spier.
Doane's next outing will see the team travel to Omaha on Tuesday, November 26, to take on Saint Mary at 6 PM.
