No. 24 Hastings Downs Women's Basketball in Home Finale

Women's Basketball hosted No. 24 Hastings on Saturday to close out the regular season. The Tigers hung tough until the momentum started to go against them as they fell to the Broncos, 88-68.

Doane trailed by 13 in the second quarter but battled back to cut the deficit to six points at the break, 41-35. The Tigers started the third quarter with a 13-5 run to take their only lead of the game, 48-46. Despite the Broncos' physical play, the Tigers would be called for more fouls with two players fouling out in the second half. Hastings took advantage and hit 11 3-point baskets in the game while shooting 45-percent for the game.

Mak Hatcliff posted 18 points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals. Maddie Portwine finished with 14 points and five rebounds with Megan Chamber picking up 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Tigers will turn their attention to a new season with the GPAC Tournament beginning on Wednesday, February 26. Doane will travel to Mitchell, S.D., to take on No. 16 Dakota Wesleyan at 7 PM.
