Women's Basketball Season Ends in GPAC Tournament

Women's Basketball had their season come to a close on Wednesday evening in the Quarterfinal Round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Tournament. The Tigers traveled to No. 13 Dakota Wesleyan and dropped the contest, 79-71.

The opening minutes of each half proved to be the difference in the game. Dakota Wesleyan started the game with a 7-0 lead before Doane was able to get on the scoreboard. However, the Tigers battled back to tie and take the lead in the second quarter. At the halftime break, the two teams were tied at 33-all.

DWU scored the first 11 points of the third quarter to take a 44-33 lead. Doane again battled back with a 15-4 run to tie the game at 48-all. Dakota Wesleyan was able to answer with a 7-0 run to retake the lead. The Tigers had one last push in the fourth quarter, pulling within one point only to have DWU post a 5-point possession to push the lead back to six, 73-67.

Macy Holtz led the Tigers with 20 points. Mak Hatcliff added 18 points to go with team-highs of six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Megan Chambers picked up 13 points and two blocked shots with Maddie Portwine posting 12 points.

Doane ends the season with a 15-14 overall record.
