Four Named All-GPAC for 2025-26 Season
CRETE, Neb. – Four members of the Doane women's basketball team were recognized by the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) for their performances during the 2025-26 season as the league announced its annual All-Conference awards.
Senior forward Megan Chambers and freshman guard Mattea Kassebaum earned Second Team All-GPAC honors, while red-shirt junior guard Rylie Rice and freshman guard Keeleigh Knobbe were selected as honorable mention recipients following the Tigers' 13-15 overall season and 10-12 mark in conference play.
Chambers anchored the Tigers in the paint throughout the season, leading the team in both scoring and rebounding at 15.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 55.8 percent from the field. The senior recorded 422 points and 230 rebounds while adding 23 blocked shots and 29 steals. Her efficiency ranked among the best in the GPAC as she reached double figures in scoring 24 times and posted double-digit rebounds on 10 occasions. Chambers opened the season with a career-high 36-point, 14-rebound performance against Peru State and finished the year with 12 games of at least 17 points.
Kassebaum earned Second Team honors after serving as one of Doane's most versatile offensive threats. The freshman averaged 13.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game while finishing second on the team with 380 points. She connected on 123 field goals and 111 free throws during the season, reaching double figures in scoring 17 times. Among her top performances were a season-high 26 points against top-ranked Dordt and 24-point outings against Midland and Waldorf. Kassebaum also led the Tigers with 48 steals during the season.
Rice received honorable mention recognition after emerging as one of the conference's top perimeter shooters. The junior averaged 13.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while knocking down a team-high 66 three-pointers at a 35.7 percent clip. Rice scored 20 or more points seven times during the season, including a season-high 23-point performance against Northwestern. She also recorded two double-doubles and finished third on the team in scoring with 350 points. Her 82.4 percent free-throw percentage ranked among the best on the roster.
Knobbe rounded out the Tigers' honorees after averaging 11.1 points per game while leading the team with 71 assists. The freshman guard added 44 steals and 15 blocked shots while making 44 three-pointers on the season. Knobbe reached double figures in scoring 19 times, highlighted by a season-best 23-point effort against College of Saint Mary and a 22-point performance against Midland. Her all-around contributions helped stabilize the Tiger backcourt throughout conference play.
The four selections highlight a strong core for the Tigers, who featured four players averaging at least 11 points per game and accounted for more than 77 percent of the team's scoring during the 2025-26 campaign. Chambers and Kassebaum each earned Second Team honors, while Rice and Knobbe were recognized as honorable mention selections by the conference coaches.
