Women's Golf Opens Season by Breaking Four School Records
Women's Golf opened the season on Thursday and Friday in Yankton, S.D., at the Mount Marty Invite. The Tigers had a record breaking start to the season, breaking the team single round and team 36-hole school records. Additionally, the individual single round record was tied and the 36-hole record was broken.
Doane finished second overall with a 643, breaking the 36-hole record by 34 strokes. On Thursday, they posted a 309 to break the single round record. Friday, the Tigers closed the tournament with a 334.
Sydney Streeter paced the Tigers in the opening meet of the year as she won the tournament by two strokes. Streeter tied the single round school record with a 73 on Thursday and finished the tournament with a 78 on Friday to post a school record for 36 holes with a 151. Her victory was the first for a Tiger golfer since April 2021.
Connie Jarm tied for second overall with a 153 (76-77), which also topped the previous school record by three strokes. Jamisyn Kirkpatrick tied for 22nd with a 170 (82-88) and Laila Saunders tied for 26th with a 171 (80-91). Payton Morgan tied for 28th with a 173 (80-93).
The Tigers' "B" team finished 10th with a 723 (340-383). Tia Phaisan finished 11th with a 162 (80-82). Maddie Nielson placed 41st with a 181 (86-95) and Jessy Merrell shot a 189 (86-103) to place 52nd. Emma Sheaffer recorded a 191 (88-103) to tie for 54th and Julia Johnson finished 63rd with a 217 (107-110).
Next up for the Tigers will be the Mount Mercy Invite on September 7-8 in Marion, Iowa.
