Women's Soccer Achieves Program Mark

Doane Women's Soccer received a goal midway through the first half and made it hold up, winning 1-0 over Saint Mary (Kan.) on Saturday afternoon. The win gave the Tigers their first 2-0 start since 2010. Doane also recorded their second consecutive shutout, marking the third time in program history (2004, 2010, 2022) to achieve the feat.

In the 26th minute of play, Michaela Thompson (SR/Spokane, Wash.) was able to get the Tigers on the scoreboard as she picked up a rebound from her own shot attempt and found the net for the lead. With 11 minutes to play in the opening half, the game would be delayed due to lightning. This would not deter the Tigers as they held Saint Mary without a shot in the first 45 minutes.

Doane continued to hold control of the game throughout the second half, limiting the Spires to a pair of shot attempts, though neither were on-goal. The Tigers finished the game with a 24-2 shot advantage, including 15-0 in shots on-goal. Grayce Southern (FR/Tulsa, Okla.) picked up the win while sharing the shutout win with Hannah Drolshagen (SR/Englewood, Colo.) as each keeper played 45 minutes.

Next up for the Tigers is a trip to McPherson, Kan., to take on the Bulldogs on August 31 with kickoff scheduled for 6 PM.
