Doane Women's Soccer hosted Presentation on Thursday evening in Crete. The Tigers struck early in the game only to have the Saints strike back early in the second half as the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw. Doane is now 4-2-2 (1-0-1 GPAC) on the year and Presentation is 4-0-2 (1-0-2 GPAC).
The Tigers held the clear shot advantage, 33-10 for the game. However, only 12 of those shots were on-goal as they had a 12-6 advantage.
Abbie Hedgecock (SR/North Platte, Neb.) scored the first goal of the game to put Doane in front in the 6' as she scored on a free kick just outside of the goal box. The Tigers held the lead until the 49' when Amy Turner scored the tying goal for the Saints. Three minutes later, Turner had a chance to put Presentation in front as she had a 1-on-1 chance with Doane's Gryce Southern, but Southern made a diving one-handed deflection to keep the game tied.
Southern recorded five saves for the Tigers while Marisol Vargas picked up 11 saves for the Saints.
Next for Doane will be a home contest against Jamestown on Saturday, September 24, at 1 PM in Crete.
