Doane Women's Soccer struck first in the GPAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday evening but the top-seeded Jimmies of Jamestown were able to come back for a 3-1 win over the Tigers. Doane ends the season at 8-9-1 overall.
Michaela Thompson (SR/Spokane, Wash.) put the Tigers on the board in the first half. The Jimmies goalkeeper was pressured by Celeste Galvan (FR/Escondido, Calif.) and her clearout kick went to Thompson who sent the ball back towards the goal and it was deflected in for a goal. For Thompson, she scored her team-leading eighth goal of the year.
Jamestown came back with a goal in the 17' to tie the game. The score was tied at halftime but the Jimmies took the lead in the 50' and added a goal in the 70' to secure the win. Doane was trying to become the first women's 8-seed to knock off the top seed.
Jamestown advances and will take on the winner of Dordt/Midland in the GPAC Semifinals.
