Women's Tennis Picks Up First Win at KWU
Doane Women's Tennis picked up their first win of the season on Saturday with a 6-1 victory at Kansas Wesleyan. The Tigers swept through doubles action and won five of the six singles matches.
Ava Macke and Liz van der Torre teamed up for a 6-4 win at 1-doubles. Ashlyn Kucera and Nina Ngo picked up a 6-0 shutout win at 2-doubles. Kailyn Groski and Grace Schroller were victorious at 3-doubles, 6-4.
In singles play, Macke won at 1-singles in a tie-break. The final scores were 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 1-0 (10-5). In the 2-singles match, van der Torre won 6-2, 6-3. Kucera was a 6-1, 6-1, victor at 3-singles. With the team win clinched, the Tigers played 8-game pro sets for the final three matches. Ngo won 8-4 at 4-singles and Schroller was an 8-6 winner at 6-singles.
The Tigers will remain in Kansas for Sunday action as they take on Bethel (Kan.) at 1 PM.
