Women's Tennis Competes Over Spring Break
Doane Women's Tennis embarked on a Spring Break trip that took them from Kansas to Tennessee to Kentucky and to Illinois before they made their way home in preparation for the conference opener.
Following a 6-1 win over Kansas Wesleyan, the Tigers dropped a pair of matches. They were defeated by Bethel (Kan.), 6-1, and NCAA Division I Austin Peay (Tenn.), 7-0. Doane returned to the win column with a 7-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan before falling to Oakland City (Ind.), 5-2.
Nina Ngo picked up the Tigers lone win over Bethel with a tie-break victory at 4-singles.
Doane held Kentucky Wesleyan in check in their Wednesday match-up. Liz van der Torre and Ashlyn Kucera shut out their opponents at 2-singles and 3-singles, respectively, with 6-0, 6-0 victories.
Against Oakland City, van der Torre won at 2-singles while Ngo picked up a tie-break win at 4-singles.
Doane will return home and take on Mount Marty on Sunday, March 19, in Yankton, S.D.
