Macke Named GPAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Doane Women's Tennis player Ava Macke has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Player of the Week after her performance last week in three matches. This marks the fourth time in Macke's career that she has received the honor and the first this season.

The Tigers went 2-1 on the week, defeating Bethany (Kan.) and Northwestern (Iowa) before dropping a match to NCAA Division I Creighton (Neb.). Macke was victorious in both singles and doubles play against Bethany and Northwestern, going 4-2 on the week in matches played.

At 1-singles against Bethany, she defeated Jahzuena Bradshaw, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). In doubles play, she teamed with Liz van der Torre at 1-doubles for a 6-3 win.

Against the Red Raiders, Macke won 7-5, 6-4, over Olya Furmanova at 1-singles. In doubles play with van der Torre, they posted a 6-4 win.

The women's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday, April 11, with a match at College of Saint Mary in Omaha.
