Women's Tennis Goes 1-1 in GPAC Tournament
Doane Women's Tennis closed out their 2022-23 season on Friday at the GPAC Championships held at Genesis Health Club in Omaha. The Tigers opened with a 4-0 win over Saint Mary in the first round of action but fell to defeat in the semifinals to Morningside, 4-0.
The Tigers won the doubles point with wins at 2-doubles and 3-doubles. Ashlyn Kucera and Nina Ngo won 6-1 while Kailyn Groski and Grace Schroller won 7-5. The 1-doubles match was tied 5-5 when doubles action was halted.
Doane's wins in singles play came at 2, 4, and 5-singles while the matches at 1 and 3-singles did not finish and 6-singles did not start. Liz van der Torre won 6-3, 6-1, at 2-singles with Ngo winning 6-2, 6-0, at 4-singles. Groski was a 6-1, 6-2, victor at 5-singles.
Against Morningside, the Mustangs won the doubles point with wins at 1 and 3-doubles. In singles action, Morningside won in the same spots that Doane had won previously in the day at 2, 4, and 5-singles.
The Tigers concluded their season at 10-14 overall.
