Women's Tennis Drops Close Match with NWU
Women's Tennis played their second home dual of the season as they hosted Nebraska Wesleyan on Tuesday evening. The Prairie Wolves were able to come away with a 4-3 win over the Tigers.
In doubles play, Doane won at 1-doubles as Maria Purizaca and Liz Calderon won 6-2. The decisive match for the first team point was at 2-doubles as NWU won in a tie-break, 7-6 (7-5).
Purizaca won at 1-singles in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. Calderon took the 2-singles match in straight sets as well, 6-2, 7-5. Doane's final win came at 6-singles where Kat Johnson picked up the victory as her opponent was forced to retire due to injury in the second set.
The women's tennis team will compete in the ITA Tournament in Salina, Kansas, for their next outing. Qualifiers for the tournament were not available at the time of this release.
