Purizaca Named Player of the Year as GPAC Women's Tennis Honors Announced

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the 2025 all-conference honors and the Doane Women's Tennis team placed six athletes on the list.

In addition to the all-conference honorees, Maria Purizaca was named the GPAC Player of the Year for the second straight season. Coach Ed Hubbs was named the GPAC Co-Coach of the Year.

Purizaca was named First Team for both singles and doubles play. She posted a singles record at No. 1 of 19-1 on the year in dual action while going 16-3 in doubles play.

Mariana Espinosa teamed with Purizaca to earn First Team honors and as a team, they were 13-3 on the year. In singles action, Espinosa earned First Team honors at No. 2 as she went 10-6 with a 4-1 conference mark.

Liz Calderon earned First Team honors in singles and doubles as well. In singles action at No. 3, she went 16-3 on the year and 6-0 in GPAC play. In doubles play, she teamed with Grace Schroller at No. 2 to post a 9-7 overall record with a 5-1 mark in GPAC play.

Kat Johnson received First Team honors in singles play at No. 6. She posted a 13-3 overall record with a 6-0 GPAC record. In doubles play, Johnson teamed with Isabella Castillero at No. 3 to earn honorable mention honors. They went 5-7 overall and 3-2 in GPAC play. Castillero received honorable mention honors in singles play with a 7-12 overall record.
