SALINA, Kan. — The Doane University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Bethel (Kan.) in nonconference action played in Salina, Kansas.

The Threshers gained early control of the dual by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. Bethel posted 6-1 wins at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and followed with a 6-2 victory at No. 3.

Doane responded in singles play with two victories, highlighted by a dominant performance at the top of the lineup. NAIA No. 14 Maria Purizaca earned a straight-set win at No. 1 singles, defeating No. 23 Daniela Casique 6-1, 6-3.
