Women's Tennis Secures Road Win in Iowa

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Doane Women's Tennis delivered a dominant performance on Friday afternoon, sweeping doubles play and cruising to a 6-1 victory over Northwestern.

The Tigers set the tone early by capturing all three doubles matches to secure the team point. At No. 1 doubles, Maria Purizaca and Liz Calderon controlled play in a 6-2 win. Grace Schroller and Kat Johnson followed with a commanding 6-0 victory at No. 2, while Isabella Castillero and Alejandra Prat completed the sweep with a 6-4 decision at No. 3.

Carrying momentum into singles, Doane claimed five of the six matches to seal the team win.

Purizaca led the way at the top of the lineup with a strong 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles. Calderon battled back after dropping the opening set to earn a gritty three-set win (5-7, 6-0, 6-1) at No. 2.

Schroller and Castillero each turned in dominant straight-set performances, with Schroller winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 and Castillero matching that control with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5. Prat added another point at No. 6 with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win.

Northwestern's lone point came at No. 3 singles, where Kat Johnson fell in a competitive three-set match.
