Nelson Paces Women's Track and Field in Happy Holidays Pentathlon
Track and Field opened the indoor season on Sunday in Crete by hosting the annual Happy Holidays Combined Events competition with Central Missouri and Central (Iowa).
In the women's pentathlon, nine competitors finished the five-event competition. Three Tigers were making their debut in the pentathlon. Chaney Nelson posted the top Doane finish with a score of 3,012 points to place sixth. Her best event finish was in the 800m run as she ran a time of 2:25.25 to post the quickest time.
Rosalyn Roggasch placed seventh with a score of 2,905. Her top event finishes came in the 60m hurdles and the high jump where she posted the fourth-best finish in each. In the hurdles, Roggasch ran a time of 9.60, while in the high jump she was able to clear 1.53m (5-00.25).
Britta Deden finished with 2,272 points to place ninth. Her top event finish was seventh in the hurdles. She ran a time of 10.09 which won her heat.
Several members of the program will get their first action of the season next weekend in Seward as the Tigers travel to compete in the Bulldog Early Bird Invite.
