Pribyl Wins Title to Open NAIA Championships
Doane Women's Track and Field opened the first day of action with a strong statement right out of the gate, winning the first event national championship of the 2025 NAIA Track & Field National Championships. The Tigers are in second place after the first day with 12 points, trailing Siena Heights (Mich.) by one point.
Kaylee Pribyl, a sophomore from Western, Neb., won the NAIA pole vault championship with a clearance of 4.05m (13-03.50). She broke the school record mark she set two weeks ago at the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Championships. Pribyl was the last vaulter to come into the event and missed on her first attempt at 3.75m before converting her second attempt. On her next three heights, she was on her third and final attempt before clearing the bar. Three competitors cleared 3.95m with Pribyl making the mark on her second attempt. When the bar went to 4.00m, she cleared on her first attempt while her competitors would miss on their attempts. Pribyl cleared 4.05m on her first attempt and took one vault attempt at 4.10m before stepping aside to take her title.
Pribyl was joined by teammate Kennedy Stanley, a junior from Syracuse, Neb., on the podium. She was near her personal best as she finished with a clearance of 3.75m (12-03.50), only one inch from her personal best hit last year at the national meet.
On the track, the 4x400m relay team of Katie Vogt, Chaney Nelson, Kiley Hetjmanek, and Danie Parriott teamed up for a season-best time of 3:51.37 to qualify for the finals on Saturday. Their time is the third-fastest in program history. Vogt is a junior from Pierce, Neb., Nelson is a sophomore from Oakland, Neb., Hetjmanek is a sophomore from Maywood, Neb., and Pariott is a junior from Murray, Neb.
Action on Friday at the Alachua County Sports and Event Center in Gainesville, Fla., will begin at 9 AM (CST).
