Women's Track and Field Record Strong Marks at Prairie Wolf Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. — Doane's women's track and field team turned in a strong day at the Nebraska-Devaney Center on Friday (Jan. 23), posting a pair of individual victories on the track, sweeping the top three in the 400 meters, and stacking up key NAIA marks in a competitive meet on the 200m banked surface.

Sprints: Tigers own the short races
Doane's sprinters opened the day with a big showing in the 60 meters, placing four athletes in the top six of the finals. Junior RaeAnn Thompson led the Tigers with a third-place finish in 7.74, followed closely by senior Tania Gleason in 7.77 (fourth). Freshman Elizabeth Wemhoff added a fifth-place run of 7.83, while senior Morgan Mahoney was sixth in 7.94. Gleason also impressed in the prelims, clocking 7.67 to advance.

In the 200 meters, senior Kat Vogt delivered one of the day's top highlights, winning the event with a personal best time of 24.94 and hitting an NAIA "B" standard. Wemhoff followed in second at 25.19, with Mahoney fourth at 25.98. Doane also had depth across sections with Zaili Benish (26.59) and Kiley Hejtmanek (26.62) both finishing in the top 10 overall.

Vogt doubled back in the 400 meters and was even better, taking first in 55.10—a performance that met both the NAIA "A" standard and broke the school record she set last week. Doane made it a clean sweep of the podium as Hejtmanek finished second in 58.97 and Benish was third in 1:01.04. Britta Deden capped the Tiger effort with a ninth-place finish in 1:04.91.

Middle distance: podium finish and relay success
In the 600 meters, senior Danie Parriott earned a third-place finish in 1:36.35, pacing a group of five Tigers in the event. Allison Ernst ran 1:47.96, followed by Madison Lytle (1:48.59), Emily Lytle (1:51.21) and Alyssa Plock (1:53.24).

Doane also posted a runner-up performance in the 4x400 relay. The "A" squad of Jayden Meyer, Hejtmanek, Benish and Parriott placed second overall in 3:57.09, narrowly behind Dordt.

Distance: solid group performances
Junior Maddy Ramey led the Tigers in the mile with an eighth-place run of 5:24.53. Doane also received times from Grace Colbert (5:57.48), Gabby Maryott (6:04.14), Rilyn Schledewitz (6:04.98), Cecilia Barron-Barrelleza (6:11.45) and Morgan Smith (6:30.27).

In the 5,000 meters, the Tigers placed four athletes in the top 13, led by freshman Kristen Billings in 10th (19:30.34). Alison Bradford followed in 11th (19:35.07), Kenzy Lippold was 12th (19:38.60), and Delaney Catron rounded out the group in 13th (19:52.87).

Hurdles & jumps: another near-win and field depth
Senior Josie Garrett nearly captured the 60 hurdles title, taking second in the finals in 8.87 after winning her prelim heat in 8.91. Fellow Tiger Felicia Deumi-Nappi added a sixth-place finish in 9.68.

In the high jump, Doane put multiple athletes near the top of the standings, led by Katelynn Kratz and Kayley Thompson, who each cleared 1.53m (5-0.25) to tie for second and third, respectively. Elenna Koenig added a mark of 1.43m (4-8.25), with Madison Vogel clearing 1.38m (4-6.25).

Doane was especially strong in the pole vault, with seniors Kennedy Stanley and Avery Scott tying for first after both cleared 3.62m (11-10.5)—an NAIA "B" standard.

On the horizontal jumps, freshman Kali Drake finished 10th in the long jump at 4.75m (15-7), with Adalin Bosak close behind in 11th (4.73m / 15-6.25).
