Eight Event Champs for Women's Track & Field at GPAC Meet
The Women's Track and Field GPAC Championships came down to the final event of the meet as Doane and Concordia were tangled in a back and forth battle. In the end, the Bulldogs were able to hold off the upset-minded Tigers, 209.5-204.5. Key to the Tigers' efforts were eight event champions.
Athletes earned All-GPAC honors with a Top 8 finish in an individual event and a Top 3 finish in a relay.
Neryah Hekl won the 100m with a school record time of 11.75. Morgan Mahoney took third with a time of 12.24 and Isabel Bothwell was fourth in a time of 12.35. Katie Vogt won the 200m in a time of 25.27. Hekl took second in a time of 25.57 while Mahoney was seventh in a time of 26.17. Vogt also won the 400m in a time of 56.40 with Kiley Hejtmanek taking seventh with a time of 1:00.06.
Danie Parriott finished sixth in the 3000m steeplechase while running a time of 12:17.45. Calla Wittland ran the 10,000m and placed sixth with a time of 41:47.22. In the 100m hurdles, Josie Garrett placed third with a time of 14.50. Chaney Nelson placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.11.
The Tigers 4x100m relay team of Bothwell, Mahoney, Vogt, and Hekl ran a time of 47.29 to win the race.
Lindsay Adams won the long jump with a leap of 5.65m/18-06.50. Garrett took seventh with a mark of 5.40m/17-08.75 and Rosalyn Roggasch took eighth with a jump of 5.27m/17-03.50. Roggasch won the triple jump with a mark of 11.53m/37-10.00. Garrett was second with a mark of 11.51m/37-09.25 and Kyla Davis took fourth with a jump of 11.23m/36-10.25. Adams placed sixth with a mark of 11.08m/36-04.25.
Jastiny Jackson and Garrett tied for fourth in the high jump with clearances of 1.60m/5-03.00. Sarah Theiler tied for sixth with a mark of 1.55m/5-01.00. In the pole vault, Kaylee Pribyl took first place with a clearance of 3.75m/12-03.00. Kennedy Stanley took second with a mark of 3.55m/11-07.75 and Samantha Knapp finished seventh with a height of 3.25m/10-08.00.
In the shot put, Delaney Burge took eighth with a throw of 13.17m/43-02.50. Alivia Baucom took second in the discus with a throw of 45.48m/149-02. Sydney Biermann finished in fifth place with a throw of 40.77m/133-09. In the hammer throw, Macy Fuller placed second with a throw of 55.72m/182-10. Mia Knigge took eighth with a toss of 48.27m/158-04.
Molly Vander Hamm won the javelin with a throw of 40.84m/134-00. Mattie Pohl finished in fourth with a throw of 37.67m/123-07 and Burge took fifth with a mark of 37.26m/122-03. Nelson placed fourth in the heptathlon with 4,144 points.
Doane will compete at the Concordia Twilight on Friday, May 10, in Seward for their next competition.
