Women's Track and Field Ties for 20th at Nationals
Women's Track and Field closed out the 2024 season with a 20th place finish at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in Marion, Indiana. The Tigers recorded five Top eight finishes to record 11 team points in the meet.
On the first day of action on Wednesday, two Tigers earned All-American honors. Kaylee Pribyl was the first to earn honors as she placed eighth in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.70m. Macy Fuller followed with a sixth place finish in the hammer throw with a throw of 56.09m. She joins Becky Franzluebbers (1996-97) and April Kockrow (1999-2000) as the only Tiger women to record multiple All-American performances in their hammer throw career.
Thursday's action saw Josie Garrett post a personal best performance in the triple jump to bring home All-American honors. She hit a leap of 12.28m to place sixth overall. Her mark is tied for the second-best leap in program history, equaling Abby Schlueter in 2008.
The final day of action started with the 4x100m relay team earning All-American honors. The team of Isabel Bothwell, Morgan Mahoney, Katie Vogt, and Neryah Hekl were the last team to qualify for the finals on Wednesday by running a school record time of 46.53. On Friday, they moved up one spot to finish eighth as they ran a time of 46.61 and became the third women's 4x100m relay team to earn All-American honors (2002, 2014).
A historical accomplishment wrapped up the women's efforts at the national meet. In the 100m dash, Hekl qualified for the finals on Thursday by running a time of 11.69 to break her school record. In the finals on Friday, Hekl matched her school record time of 11.69 to place sixth overall. She became the first Doane woman to earn All-American honors in the 100m dash with her efforts.
