Women's Track and Field Starts Season in Kearney
Women's Track and Field competed in the Central Nebraska Challenge on a windy Friday in Kearney. The Tigers collected three event wins along with three NAIA automatic national qualifying marks.
On the track, Neryah Hekl won the 100m with a time of 11.80. Kiley Hejtmanek placed 20th in the 200m with a personal best time of 26.23. Danie Parriott ran a time of 58.67 in the 400m to place third.
Marisa Miles placed eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:33.52. Ashlei McDonald was 15th in the 1500m with a time of 5:08.34. Katelyn Iwata ran a time of 22:30.21 in the 5000m to place third.
Chaney Nelson ran a time of 15.19 in the 100m hurdles and placed eighth. In the 400m hurdles, she ran a time of 1:06.86 to place second.
The 4x100m relay team of ReaAnn Thompson, Morgan Mahoney, Kat Vogt, and Hekl ran a time of 47.04 to win the event and hit a NAIA provisional qualifying mark.
In the field events, Kaylee Pribyl hit a mark of 3.95m (12-11.50) in the pole vault, placing second and qualifying for nationals with a NAIA automatic qualifying mark. Katelynn Kratz placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.61m (5-03.25).
Josie Garrett won the triple jump with a mark of 11.99m (39-04.00). She placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 5.42m (17-09.50).
Madison Sutton took second in the discus with a mark of 50.39m (165-04), meeting the NAIA automatic qualifying standard. Alivia Baucom was third in the event with a national qualifying mark of 49.06m (160-11).
Sutton took second in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.75m (169-09), meeting the NAIA provisional standard. Baucom placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 13.30m (43-07.75). In the javelin, Kalli Sutton placed ninth with a mark of 35.76m (117-04).
Next up for the Tigers is the Concordia Invite on April 4-5 in Seward.
