Women's Track and Field Hosts Three-Day Meet
Women's Track and Field hosted the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic and John Green Combined Events over three days from Wednesday to Friday in Crete. The first two days of the meet featured warm weather topping out in the high 80s while the final day managed to feel like the mid-40s with wind chills.
The heptathlon took place over the first two days with four events on Wednesday and three on Thursday. Chaney Nelson paced the Tigers with a second place finish and 4,607 points. Her point total is good for fifth in the NAIA this season.
Two field events took place on Thursday, the hammer throw and the javelin. Delaney Burge won the javelin with a throw of 40.38m (132-06) and meeting the NAIA provisional qualifying standard. In the hammer throw, Mia Knigge took second with a throw of 50.45m (165-06).
On Friday, two of the field events took place outside. In the discus, Madison Sutton won with a mark of 48.01m (157-06), meeting the NAIA automatic qualifying standard. Alivia Baucom met the provisional qualifying standard with a throw of 46.84m (153-08) and placed second.
In the shot put, Baucom came out on top with the second-best throw in the NAIA this season. She hit a mark of 14.67m (48-01.75) on her first throw of the event. Her mark is also seventh-best in program history.
The remaining field events took place indoors due to the weather. Rosalyn Roggasch took second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.37m (37-03.75). She also paced the Tigers in the long jump with a mark of 5.13m (16-10.00) to place fourth.
Kennedy Stanley won the pole vault with a mark of 3.65m (11-11.75). Katelynn Kratz took second based on attempts in the high jump with a mark of 1.61.m (5-03.25).
On the track, Neryah Hekl won the 100m dash in a time of 12.16, edging out teammate RaeAnn Thompson by 0.01. Hekl ran a time of 12.01 in the prelims and Thompson ran 12.06. Thompson won the 200m in a time of 25.47. Kat Vogt won the 400m dash in a time of 56.36.
Danie Parriott came out on top in the 800m with a time of 2:17.98. Laura Hasemann won the 1500m with a time of 5:05.41. Ashlei McDonald won the 5000m race in a time of 18:48.98 while Calla Wittland won the 10,000m run in a time of 41:58.61.
Josie Garrett won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.41. She ran a time of 14.34 in the prelims, also the fastest time. Mackenzie Spencer took third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 14:16.64. The 4x400m relay team of Hasemann, Maddy Ramey, Marissa Miles, and Madison Lytle posted a time of 4:36.16.
Doane will compete next at the Prairie Wolf Invite on April 24 in Lincoln.
