Women's Track and Field Claims First Outdoor Title Since 2018
Women's Track and Field traveled down the road to Hastings to compete at the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Championships on Friday and Saturday. The championships returned to Hastings for the first time since 2016 and the team champion crowned then was the same school in 2025, the Doane Tigers.
The Tigers posted 222 points in this year's meet, claiming their first outdoor title since 2018. Athletes playing in the Top 8 of individual events and Top 3 of relay events earn all-conference honors.
Neryah Hekl claimed the 100m dash title and is the fastest woman in the GPAC for 2025 after running a time of 11.90. RaeAnn Thompson placed fifth with a time of 12.18 and Morgan Mahoney was seventh in a time of 12.42. Kat Vogt placed second in the 200m with a time of 24.87. Thompson placed fourth with a time of 24.99 and Mahoney was eighth with a time of 25.31.
Vogt won the 400m with a time of 55.23 and qualified for the NAIA National Championships with her automatic qualifying mark. Danie Parriott won the 800m with a time of 2:13.80. Ashlei McDonald placed third in the 1500m in a time of 4:49.07. She placed fifth in the 5000m with a time of 19:11.74. In the 10,000m, Calla Wittland placed fifth with a time of 41:38.94.
Josie Garrett picked up a fourth place finish in the 100m hurdles as she ran a time of 14.40. Chaney Nelson finished in eighth with a time of 15.73. In the 400m hurdles, Nelson placed fourth with a time of 1:06.23.
The 4x100m relay team of Thompson, Mahoney, Vogt, and Hekl raced to the championship with a time of 46.25, breaking the GPAC meet record and the Doane record. In the 4x400m relay, the squad of Vogt, Marissa Miles, Kiley Hejtmanek, and Parriott placed fourth with a time of 4:01.73. The 4x800m relay team of Parriott, McDonald, Laura Hasemann, and Maddy Ramey took fifth in a time of 9:46.03.
Kaylee Pribyl won the pole vault with a clearance of 3.85m (12-07.50). Kennedy Stanley placed fourth with a mark of 3.50m (11-05.75). Samantha Knapp took eighth with a height of 3.20m (10-06.00). In the high jump, Katelynn Kratz placed third with a mark of 1.61m (5-03.25).
Madison Sutton won the discus with a throw of 48.86m (160-03). Alivia Baucom placed third with a mark of 43.52 (142-09). Grace Dean took sixth place with a mark of 40.90m (134-02) and Kaylie Lotspeich was eighth with a toss of 39.32m (129-00). Sutton won the shot put as well, claiming a top mark of 14.04m (46-00.75). Baucom was third with a throw of 13.73m (45-00.50) and Madison Heusinkvelt finished in eighth with a throw of 13.14m (43-01.50).
Sutton added a second place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.51m (178-10). She finished the meet accounting for 28 team points. Mia Knigge placed third with a throw of 50.40m (165-04) and Lotspeich was fourth with a toss of 49.90m (163-08). In the javelin, Mattie Pohl finished fourth with a throw of 38.24m (125-05). Heusinkvelt placed fifth with a throw of 37.28m (122-03) and Delaney Burge was sixth with a mark of 36.77m (120-07). Kalli Sutton placed eighth with a toss of 36.53m (119-10).
Rosalyn Roggasch placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.51m (18-01.00). In the triple jump, Garrett posted a winning mark of 11.99m (39-04.00). Roggasch was third with a jump of 11.52m (37-09.50) and Kyla Davis finished fourth with a leap of 11.46m (37-07.25).
In the heptathlon, Nelson placed second with a point total of 4,306. Dayle Haake finished in sixth place with a mark of 3,827 points.
