Doane Volleyball faced their toughest challenge of the early season on Wednesday evening as they traveled to Fremont and faced No. 2 Midland. The Tigers put up a valiant effort before falling in four sets, 23-25, 17-25, 25-23, 20-25.

Taylor Sluke led the Tigers with 12 kills with Simonie Mendenhall (SR/Clancy, Mont.), Kirsten Bures (SR/Odell, Neb.), and Mariah Sliva (FR/Shickley, Neb.) adding seven apiece. Jaime Renshaw (SR/Sioux Falls, S.D.) dished 35 assists and had two ace serves.

Renshaw led the defense with 18 digs followed by MacKenzie Painter (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) with 13 and Harper Case (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) with 11. Cassidy Tompkin (SR/Clay Center, Neb.) had a big day at the net as she posted nine total blocks.

Doane will travel to Bellevue on September 2 for a pair of matches. They will take on Westmont (Calif.) and Ottawa (Ariz.) to open the Labor Day Classic, with both opponents featured in the latest NAIA poll.
