Volleyball Downed In Battle of the Tigers

Doane Volleyball fell to No. 15 Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon in Crete, 3-0. Game scores were 25-11, 25-16, and 25-18.

Doane faced a slow start, hitting a negative attack percentage of -0.031 while DWU hit .324 in the opening set. Doane started to come together in the third set but DWU ended the match with a 12-2 run to pick up the sweep.

For the match, DWU hit .226 with 39 kills while Doane was limited to .071 with 28 kills. The service game was in Dakota Wesleyan's favor as they had nine ace serves with Doane unable to collect any for the match. Doane won the blocking game at the net, posting 8.0 team blocks while DWU finished with 5.0 team blocks.

Simonie Mendenhall (SR/Clancy, Mont.) led Doane with seven kills on 11 attacks while posting a .636 attack percentage. Jaime Renshaw (SR/Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished with six kills and a team-high 11 assists and 16 digs. Cassidy Tompkin (SR/Clay Center, Neb.) led the defensive block, posting six total blocks.

Doane will host No. 14 Bellevue on Tuesday, October 4, at 7 PM.
