Volleyball opened the season on Friday in Fullerton, Calif., at the Hope International Summer Slam Classic. The Tigers took on Northwest (Wash.) and dropped the match in three sets, 25-22, 25-22, 25-13.
Kayden Schumacher led the Tigers with seven kills in the match while Taylor Sluka added five. As a team, Doane had 24 kills with a 0.027 attack percentage. Kennedy Stanley led the Tigers with 11 assists and Camdyn Carpenter added 10 assists.
Sophia Turek led Doane with two ace serves as the team finished with five.
Defensively, Carpenter led the team with 15 digs and Anna Sluka added 14 digs. Olivia Navarro led the way at the net with 12 total blocks, including four solo. The Tigers had 13.0 team blocks in the match.
Karste Wright led Northwest with 10 kills as the team hit 0.169. Allie Flynn had four of the team's eight ace serves.
The Tigers will take on UC-Merced later in the day to close out the first day of action.
