Volleyball traveled to Bellevue on Thursday evening to take on the Bruins to open play at the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic. Bellevue, ranked No. 13 in the most recent NAIA poll, out-hit the Tigers on their way to a 3-0 win. Game scores were 25-13, 25-17, and 25-17.
Taylor Sluka led Doane with eight kills and Olivia Navarro added six kills. The Tigers finished with 26 kills and 25 assists. Camdyn Carpenter led the setters with 14 assists. Anna Sluka had the team's only ace serve on the night.
Defensively, Sophia McKinney collected 14 of the team's 42 digs. The Tigers had 3.0 team blocks with Delaney Burge in on two blocks.
Doane will return to Bellevue on Saturday, September 2, to take on Saint Mary (Kan.) at 4:30 PM.
