Volleyball Drops Five Set Match at Mount Marty

Volleyball hit the road on Wednesday evening as they traveled to Yankton, S.D., to take on Mount Marty. The match was a back-and-forth battle with the host Lancers picking up a five-set victory. Game scores were 26-28, 25-19, 20-25, 28-26, and 15-12 in the favor of Mount Marty.
Taylor Sluka led Doane with 18 kills and a .333 attack percentage. Gracie Burwell posted 17 kills and Frankie Curren-Graff added 13 kills. As a team, the Tigers finished with a .168 attack percentage. Camdyn Carpenter finished with 51 assists to lead the way.
Doane posted nine ace serves in the match with four players having two apiece. Collecting multiple aces were Delaney Burge, Sophia McKinney, Sophia Turek, and Carpenter.
The Tigers posted 6.0 team blocks in the match with Olivia Navarro and Burge posting three total blocks apiece. Doane finished with 96 digs, led by Turek with 22 and McKinney with 20.
Next up for the Tigers will be a home doubleheader on Saturday, September 9. Friends (Kan.) will take on Doane at 1:30 PM with Saint Mary (Neb.) in town for a conference match at 5 PM.
