Balance Leads Volleyball Over Morningside

Volleyball put together one of their best all-around performances of the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Morningside, 3-0. Behind a season-best .307 attack percentage, the Tigers posted set wins of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-17.

Doane rarely found themselves trailing in the match with the Mustangs largest lead coming in the second set at three points. The Tigers erased that deficit with a 5-0 run behind three consecutive kills from Frankie Curren-Graff. Doane pulled away in the final set at the midway mark, turning a 13-12 lead to 21-13 behind an 8-1 run.

For the match, Gracie Burwell led the Tigers with 15 kills, Curren-Graff added 14 kills, and Taylor Sluka finished with 12 kills. Camdyn Carpenter dished out 42 assists in the match. The Tigers had five ace serves, led by Carpenter and Maddie Busch with two apiece.

At the net, Doane posted 3.0 team blocks for the match. Delaney Burge was in on two total blocks. In the back row, Anna Sluka tied a career-high with 19 digs and Sophia Turek added 13 digs.

The Tigers will make a trip north for their next match as they take on Jamestown on Friday, September 29, in North Dakota.
