Volleyball Unable to Upend #1 Bulldogs

Volleyball hosted No. 1 Concordia on Wednesday evening and gave the top team in the country a tough battle but the Bulldogs were still able to walk away with a three-set win. Game scores were 25-18, 25-19, and 25-13.

Doane was within a point, 15-14, midway through the opening set but a 6-1 run for Concordia would prove to be the difference as the Bulldogs hit .211 with 16 kills in the set while Doane finished with nine kills and nine attack errors. In set two, the Tigers were tied with the Bulldogs at 18-all before a 6-0 run opened the lead for Concordia. The final set would see the Bulldogs post their top attack percentage in a set, hitting .278 as they used an 8-0 run to break an early 3-all tie.

Delaney Burge led the Tigers with seven kills, four blocks, and posted the team's only ace serve. Olivia Navarro followed with six kills and a .500 attack percentage. Camdyn Carpenter finished with 25 assists in the match as the Tigers hit .033 as a team.

Sophia McKinney finished with 11 digs and Harper Case added 10 out of the back row. Doane posted 7.0 team blocks with Navarro, Taylor Sluka, and Frankie Curren-Graff all in on two blocks to follow up Burge's total.

The Tigers will have a week off as they prepare for their next home contest, a key GPAC matchup with Hastings on October 25 at 7:30 PM.
